Portal Tutorial 1

Set up IPTV Buddy in the Portal and connect your TV

Sign in by email, connect your TV with a code and configure profiles, Xtream/M3U and categories in your browser.

What You Will Learn

Sign in to the Portal, connect a TV and configure your profile in a browser. The Mobile app is not required for this route. You will also learn how to start the integrated Web Editor.

Before You Start

You need:

  • a browser on a computer, tablet or smartphone
  • access to your email inbox
  • the installed and open IPTV Buddy TV app to connect a TV
  • an internet connection on the browser device and TV
  • an existing profile or your provider’s Xtream credentials or M3U URL

IPTV Buddy does not supply channels or movies. Mobile playback is free; TV playback requires an active subscription or an eligible trial.

Tutorial Steps

1. Sign In by Email

Open portal.iptvbuddy.app.

Enter your email address and request the one-time code. Open your inbox, enter the code in the Portal and confirm sign-in. Use the same email as in the Mobile app to access your existing account. No account password or Google or Apple sign-in is needed.

Email sign-in is separate from provider access: an IPTV provider can still require its own username and password.

2. Display and Enter the TV Connection Code

Select In your browser on the TV. The TV app shows the Portal address and your connection code.

Choose the action to add a TV in the Portal, enter the code shown on the TV and confirm. Keep the TV app open and online. The code is valid only briefly; select New code on the TV if it expires. Do not share it with others.

3. Choose an Existing or New Profile

Choose an existing profile if your sources and categories are already configured. Check that it is the setup you want to use.

For a new source, choose Create profile, enter a name and select Xtream or M3U. Profiles keep separate setups apart.

4. Add Xtream or M3U

For Xtream, enter your provider’s server address, username and password. For M3U, enter a playlist name and URL.

The Portal retrieves provider data through the selected reachable device. In TV setup, the TV being connected can perform this task. Outside the wizard, you can select an available TV or Mobile device as the connection. If you explicitly choose This browser, requests come from your browser; providers can prevent these requests through browser security restrictions or lack of HTTPS support.

Wait for the provider check to finish. If it fails, check the address, credentials and connectivity before continuing.

5. Select Categories

Select the live TV, movie and series categories you want, where your provider supplies them. Your selection determines which content is imported. Deselect categories you do not need.

For M3U, review the detected playlist and the selection options offered. The available content and grouping depend on the playlist.

Manage later source and category changes under the relevant profile in the Portal. Favorite lists are separate from category selection.

6. Complete Setup and Wait for Import

Confirm the profile choice or complete setup in the Portal. The TV applies the configuration and then loads the catalog.

Connection complete. Loading your catalog… means the connection is complete while content is still being imported. Large lists may take time. Keep the TV online; after setup has been confirmed, import continues on the TV even if you close the browser page.

Then open Live TV, VOD or Series. An empty favorite list does not prevent you from browsing imported categories.

7. Organize Favorites in the Web Editor

Open Web Editor in the Portal. Choose a profile and a TV or Mobile device, then click Connect.

The device must be reachable, have the selected profile fully loaded and be available for an editor connection. Keep the selected app open. Edit favorite lists, order, names, sources, icons and EPG mappings here.

The favorites guide explains editing and import/export in more detail.

Troubleshooting

The Email Code Does Not Work

Check the email address, spam folder and most recently requested code. Request a new code if the previous one expired. A TV connection code is different from an email sign-in code.

The TV Code Has Expired

Select New code on the TV and enter the new code in the Portal. If setup itself expired or was cancelled, restart the connection flow.

The Device Is Unreachable

Open the app on the chosen device and check its internet connection. For an editor connection, the correct profile must also be loaded there. Wait for any import or profile switch to finish, then try again.

The Provider Request Fails

Check the server address, credentials or M3U URL, provider limits and VPN settings on the requesting device. For direct browser requests, choose a reachable TV or Mobile device instead if browser restrictions prevent access. If the provider returns HTTP 511, ask your provider about the rejection and whether VPN use is allowed.

The TV Is Connected but the Catalog Is Missing

Check import status, the active profile and selected categories. For outdated data, use Settings > Profile > Resync current profile on the TV. The TV guide explains navigation and sync.
