What You’ll Learn

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to:

  • understand why an IPTV Buddy account is required
  • understand what account sync does
  • manage Profile & Provider settings
  • add or update Xtream Codes credentials
  • add M3U lists
  • understand Multi Credentials
  • manage and restore a subscription
  • check connection status
  • use the Mobile VPN Kill Switch
  • understand the limited favorite import/export role of the Web Editor
  • send feedback with useful context

Before You Start

Make sure you are signed in with the account you want to use for IPTV Buddy.

The account is required because IPTV Buddy uses it to sync app data between devices and restore data after reinstalling or switching devices.

Use the same account on devices that should share the same IPTV Buddy data.

Sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Keep access to your email inbox available when you sign in or switch accounts.

Tutorial Steps

1. Why Your IPTV Buddy Account Is Required

IPTV Buddy requires an account for sync.

This helps keep your app data available when:

  • you use more than one phone
  • you reinstall the app
  • you switch to a new phone
  • you pair supported TV devices
  • you want favorites and settings to stay consistent across devices

During initial setup, account connection is required before you can continue.

The sign-in flow is:

  1. Enter your email address.
  2. Tap Send code.
  3. Enter the one-time code from your email.
  4. Confirm the code.

After the code is accepted, the account is shown as signed in with that email address.

2. What Sync Does

IPTV Buddy syncs app data through its cloud/server infrastructure.

Synced data can include:

  • profiles
  • provider setup
  • favorite lists
  • selected categories
  • Watchlist
  • Continue watching
  • episode progress
  • EPG mappings for favorites
  • source choices
  • icon choices where supported
  • connected device information

This means you do not normally need to manually copy app data between devices.

If both the phone and the cloud already contain data during setup, IPTV Buddy can ask which data should be used. The options are:

  • Use this smartphone
  • Use cloud data

Choose Use this smartphone if the data on the current phone should become the starting point.

Choose Use cloud data if the already synced cloud data should be used on this phone.

3. Do You Need a Manual Backup?

Normally, no. IPTV Buddy keeps app data available through account sync.

That means you usually do not need to manually export and import profiles, categories, playback progress, or other app data when you reinstall the app or use another device with the same account.

The important exception in these mobile tutorials is Favorites in the Web Editor. The Web Editor can import and export favorite lists where that feature is available.

Use Web Editor import/export only for Favorites. Other app data should be treated as synced through your IPTV Buddy account.

4. Open Account Settings

Open Settings.

In the Subscription & Account section, you can see:

  • Subscription
  • Account

The Account row shows the signed-in account state.

Tap Manage in the Account row to open account actions.

Depending on the current state, IPTV Buddy can offer actions such as:

  • Sign out
  • Delete account

If you want to switch to another account, sign out and then sign in with the email address you want to use. IPTV Buddy sends a new one-time code for that address.

Be careful with Delete account. The app describes this as removing all synchronized data permanently, and it asks for confirmation.

5. Manage Profiles

Open Profile & Provider.

Profiles let you keep separate IPTV setups in the app.

In the profile list, you can:

  • Add profile
  • Activate a profile
  • Rename profile
  • Delete an inactive profile

The active profile cannot be deleted.

When adding a profile, IPTV Buddy asks whether you want to:

  • Start setup wizard
  • Set up manually

Use Start setup wizard if you want the guided setup again.

Use Set up manually if you already know which provider or list data you want to enter.

6. Add or Update Xtream Codes Credentials

In Profile & Provider, use the XTREAM section.

If no credentials are stored yet, IPTV Buddy shows: No XTREAM credentials are stored yet. You can get them from your provider.

Use Credentials or Edit to enter:

  • Provider URL
  • Username
  • Password

After saving, use Test Connection when the app offers it.

If the check works, IPTV Buddy can show Connection successful.

The profile card can also show:

  • Valid until
  • Connections

These values depend on what the IPTV provider returns.

7. Use Multi Credentials

Open the XTREAM action menu and choose Multi Credentials.

Multi Credentials is for users whose IPTV provider gave them additional credentials.

The Multi Credentials screen distinguishes between:

  • Default credentials
  • Additional credentials

Add additional credentials only if your provider supplied them. They can help IPTV Buddy find an available provider connection when one credential is already in use.

If you only have one username and password from your provider, you do not need Multi Credentials.

8. Add or Remove M3U Lists

In Profile & Provider, find M3U Lists.

Tap Add M3U.

Enter:

  • List name
  • M3U list URL

Confirm with Add.

To remove a list, open the list action menu and choose Remove list.

M3U lists are useful when your provider gave you a playlist URL instead of Xtream Codes credentials.

9. Sync Provider Content

When provider credentials change, IPTV Buddy may offer Sync Content.

Use Sync Content when you want IPTV Buddy to load or refresh provider content such as:

  • categories
  • live streams
  • VOD
  • series

If sync succeeds, the app can show All content synchronized successfully.

Use Test Connection first when you are not sure whether the provider credentials work.

Use Category History if you want to review provider category sync information from the app.

10. Manage Subscription

Open Settings.

In Subscription & Account, tap Manage in the Subscription row.

On the Subscription page, you can:

  • choose a plan when no active subscription exists
  • see the current subscription status
  • see the billing period
  • see Valid until
  • use Manage subscription
  • use Restore purchases
  • use Update when the app offers it

Use Restore purchases if you bought a subscription before but the app does not show it on this device.

If the app says the subscription belongs to another account, make sure you are signed in with the account that should use the subscription.

11. Check Connection Status

Open Connections.

The Connection Status card helps you check whether IPTV Buddy can reach its own service and your IPTV provider. API refers to the IPTV Buddy connection, and Provider refers to your provider connection.

The This Phone card shows whether this phone is ready for IPTV playback or blocked by a setting such as VPN Kill Switch.

Use Connections when playback, sync, provider checks, or VPN-related behavior does not work as expected.

12. Use the Mobile VPN Kill Switch

The Mobile VPN Kill Switch is shown for This Phone on the Connections page and during initial setup.

The app description says that the VPN Kill Switch blocks IPTV on this phone when no VPN connection is active.

Enable it if IPTV on this phone should only be used through a protected VPN connection.

Leave it off if you do not use VPN or are not sure.

If VPN Kill Switch is enabled but VPN is not connected, This Phone can show Blocked and IPTV Buddy can warn that this device is not connected through VPN.

To fix this:

  • connect your VPN and try again
  • or turn off VPN Kill Switch if you do not want VPN-only IPTV playback on this phone

This setting is for the phone. TV-side VPN behavior belongs in the separate TV tutorial area.

13. Understand Favorite Import and Export Through the Web Editor

Open Favorites.

Tap Editor.

Connect the Web Editor by opening the shown editor URL on a computer, scanning the QR code, and confirming the 2FA PIN.

When the connection is active, the mobile app shows Connected to Web Editor.

The Web Editor is the place to import or export favorite lists where that feature is available.

Use Web Editor import/export only for favorite lists. Other IPTV Buddy data is kept available through account sync.

14. Send Feedback

Open the app menu and use Send feedback.

When reporting an issue, include:

  • what you tried to do
  • the screen where it happened
  • the message IPTV Buddy showed
  • whether API and Provider are connected on the Connections page
  • whether This Phone is Ready or Blocked
  • whether VPN Kill Switch is enabled
  • your provider setup type: Xtream Codes or M3U

Good feedback makes support much easier because it includes the state the app already shows.

Troubleshooting

I Signed In with the Wrong Account

Open Settings, use Manage in the Account row, and sign out. Then sign in with the email address you want to use and confirm the new one-time code.

The One-Time Code Does Not Work

Check that you entered the newest code for the same email address. If the code expired, request a new one. If the email address was wrong, use another email and start sign-in again.

My Data Looks Different After Setup

If IPTV Buddy asked whether to use phone data or cloud data, the selected option controls the initial sync state. Use the same account on devices that should share data.

The Active Profile Cannot Be Deleted

This is expected. Activate another profile first, then delete the inactive one if needed.

Provider Credentials Do Not Work

Open Profile & Provider, check Provider URL, Username, and Password, then use Test Connection.

Playback Says All Provider Credentials Are in Use

Your provider connection limit may be reached. If your provider gave you additional credentials, add them under Multi Credentials.

This Phone Is Blocked

Open Connections and check VPN Kill Switch. If it is enabled, connect VPN or turn the kill switch off.

Subscription Is Missing on This Device

Open the Subscription page and use Restore purchases. Also make sure you are signed in with the correct IPTV Buddy account.
