What You’ll Learn

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to:

  • select the Live TV categories they want to see
  • search and browse live streams
  • add streams to Favorites
  • create, rename, delete, and reorder favorite lists
  • reorder or rename streams inside a favorite list
  • choose a stream Source where multiple provider sources exist
  • adjust channel icons where the app offers the Icon action
  • connect the mobile app to the Web Editor for easier favorite management on a computer

Before You Start

Make sure your active profile contains either Xtream Codes credentials or at least one M3U list.

If Live TV shows No categories selected, you need to choose Live TV categories before browsing channels.

If you want to organize favorites on a computer, keep your phone nearby. The Web Editor connection is started from the Favorites page in the mobile app and uses a QR code plus a 2FA PIN.

Tutorial Steps

1. Understand Categories and Favorites

Categories and Favorites solve different problems.

Categories come from your IPTV source. They decide which provider sections appear in Live TV. Examples are country groups, sports groups, movie channel groups, or provider-specific sections.

Favorites are your own lists. Use them for channels you actually watch, such as news, sports, local channels, family channels, or a travel list.

A good setup usually looks like this:

  • keep only useful Live TV categories active
  • find the channels you watch most
  • add those channels to one or more favorite lists
  • use Favorites for daily viewing

This keeps large IPTV lists manageable without changing the provider data itself.

2. Select Live TV Categories

Open Live TV.

Tap Select categories in the toolbar.

In the category selection screen, you can:

  • search for categories
  • select or deselect individual categories
  • use Select All
  • use Deselect All
  • tap Apply to save the selection
  • tap Cancel to leave without applying changes

Select only the categories you need. Loading every category can make browsing slower and can make the channel list harder to understand.

If you selected too much, open Select categories again and reduce the list.

3. Find Streams in Live TV

After categories are selected, Live TV shows the available category list.

Open a category to see its streams.

Use the search bar at the top when you already know the channel name or part of the name.

The category All Live TV Streams is useful when you want to search across all loaded live streams. However, EPG is not available from All Live TV Streams. If you want TV guide context, use a single category or Favorites instead.

4. Add a Stream to Favorites

Open a Live TV category or search result.

Tap a stream to open its action menu.

Choose Add to “Favorites”.

IPTV Buddy opens Select or create favorite.

You can then:

  • select an existing favorite list
  • create a new favorite list

If you create a new list, enter a Favorite Name and confirm with Create.

After the stream was added, it appears in Favorites.

5. Add Several Streams at Once

When the app offers selection mode in a stream list, use it to add several visible streams at once.

In selection mode, you can:

  • select individual streams
  • use Select All
  • use Deselect All
  • add the selected streams to Favorites

This is useful when a category contains many channels you want to keep.

IPTV Buddy can show a limit message if a favorites list becomes too large. The app text says that a favorites list can contain at most 100 entries.

6. Open Favorite Lists

Open Favorites from the main app navigation.

If you do not have any favorites yet, the app offers:

  • Open Live TV
  • Open Web Editor

Use Open Live TV when you want to add favorites from the mobile app.

Use Open Web Editor when you want to manage favorites on a computer.

Once favorite lists exist, tap a list to open it.

7. Rename, Delete, and Reorder Favorite Lists

Open Favorites.

Use Edit in the Favorites overview to reorder favorite lists.

While editing:

  • drag lists into the order you want
  • tap Apply to save the new order
  • use Cancel or Reset if you do not want to keep the changes

Tap a favorite list’s action menu to:

  • Rename list
  • Delete list

The active list content is not changed when you only reorder lists. Reordering changes how the lists appear in Favorites.

8. Reorder Streams Inside a Favorite List

Open Favorites.

Open the favorite list you want to organize.

Use Edit to reorder streams inside that list.

Drag streams into the order you want, then tap Apply.

Use this for your daily channel order, for example putting the most important channels at the top.

9. Rename a Stream in Favorites

Open a favorite list.

Tap a stream and choose Rename.

Enter the name you want to see in your favorite list.

Use this when the provider name is too long, unclear, duplicated, or not written the way you prefer.

If you want to undo the custom name, the rename dialog also offers Reset.

Renaming here is for your organized list. It does not change the IPTV provider’s original channel data.

10. Remove a Stream from Favorites

Open the favorite list.

Tap the stream you want to remove.

Choose Remove from “Favorites”.

Confirm the removal when the app asks.

Removing a stream from a favorite list does not remove it from the IPTV provider. You can add it again later from Live TV.

11. Choose the Correct Source for a Channel

Some channels can have multiple source streams behind the same channel entry.

When IPTV Buddy offers the Source action, open it and select the source you want to use.

This is helpful when:

  • two provider entries have similar names
  • one stream works better than another
  • the channel exists in multiple provider categories

The Source choice is part of your organized setup and can be synced with your app data.

12. Choose or Upload a Channel Icon

The Icon action is available from streams inside normal favorite lists.

Open a favorite list, tap a stream, and choose Icon.

The icon picker lets you:

  • choose an icon from available source streams
  • upload a custom icon
  • remove a custom icon
  • tap Apply to save the selection

If you upload a custom image, IPTV Buddy opens a crop screen before applying the icon.

This is useful when a provider logo is missing, wrong, outdated, or inconsistent with the other channels in your list.

13. Use EPG from Favorites

Favorite lists work well with EPG because they contain only the channels you care about.

Open a favorite list and tap EPG in the toolbar.

The Favorites EPG view shows the timeline for the streams in that list.

If EPG is missing or wrong for a stream, use the EPG tutorial to select or change the EPG channel.

14. Use the Web Editor for Larger Changes

The Web Editor is useful when you want to organize favorites on a computer instead of doing many edits on the phone.

Open Favorites and tap Editor.

The app shows Open Online Editor on PC.

Open the shown editor URL in a desktop browser, then tap Continue in the mobile app.

Scan the QR code from the Web Editor with the mobile app.

When the app asks for Confirm 2FA, enter the 5-digit 2FA PIN from the Web Editor and tap Confirm Code.

When the connection is active, the app shows Connected to Web Editor.

You can end the session with Disconnect.

The Web Editor can manage favorite lists, streams, names, source choices, icon choices, and EPG mappings for favorites. It is also the place to import or export Favorites where that Web Editor feature is available.

15. What to Do If the Web Editor Does Not Connect

If the QR code is not accepted, create a new editor session and scan the new QR code.

If the connection is interrupted, the app may show Reconnecting or Restoring connection. Wait briefly, or start a new session if you do not want to resume the old one.

If the phone and computer are on unstable networks, try again with a stronger connection.

Troubleshooting

Live TV Says No Categories Selected

Open Select categories and choose at least one Live TV category. Then tap Apply.

I Cannot Find a Channel

Use search inside Live TV. If you selected only a few categories, the channel may be in a category that is currently not selected.

EPG Is Missing in All Live TV Streams

This is expected. IPTV Buddy shows that EPG is not available in All Live TV Streams. Use Favorites or a single category instead.

Add the stream to a normal favorite list, open its action menu, choose Icon, and select a better source icon or upload a custom one.

Favorites Are Hard to Edit on the Phone

Use Editor from Favorites and connect to the Web Editor on a computer.
