TV Tutorial 7

Set Up and Use Sports Hub on TV

Select competitions for your profile, find sports events, control score display, and open matched Live TV channels or recording setup.

What You’ll Learn

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to:

  • open or enable Sports Hub in the TV navigation
  • select competitions for the active profile
  • filter and search sports events
  • choose when scores are visible
  • interpret event states and delayed or cached-data notices
  • understand how matching channels are resolved from your Live TV data
  • choose among multiple matching channels
  • play an event or set up an eligible future recording
  • rebuild channel assignments when needed

Before You Start

The TV must be paired with your IPTV Buddy account and use an active profile.

Playback or recording requires valid provider credentials or an M3U list and a matching channel in active Live TV categories or Favorites. Sports Hub does not supply channels; it maps events to channels already available in the profile.

Tutorial Steps

1. Open or Enable Sports Hub

Choose Sports Hub in the TV main navigation.

If the entry is missing, open Settings > Sports Hub > Enable Sports Hub. Once enabled, Sports Hub appears between Live TV and Series in the main navigation.

Enabling or disabling it applies to this TV. It does not delete the profile’s competition selection.

2. Select Competitions

Open Settings > Sports Hub > Configure competitions. If nothing is selected for the profile yet, you can also open configuration from the empty Sports Hub.

Configuration is hierarchical. Open a sport, move through the available groups, and enable the competitions that should appear in the hub. Search narrows visible entries by leagues or countries. Selected only limits the view to competitions already enabled.

Clear all removes the complete selection after confirmation. Press Back when you finish selecting. Changed selections are saved before configuration closes.

3. Distinguish Profile Selection From Local Settings

Selected competitions belong to the active profile. A change therefore applies to every TV that uses this profile.

Enable Sports Hub and Show Score are local settings on this TV. The same profile can therefore use different display settings on different TVs.

4. View Live and Upcoming Events

Sports Hub loads live and upcoming events for the selected competitions. The displayed future window covers the next seven days. Depending on the available data, recently completed entries can also appear in the current time range.

Entries are ordered by date and time. Focus starts at the live event or the next future event when such an entry is available.

5. Filter or Search Events

Open the filter to show only specific sports or selected competitions from your configuration. Back applies the filter.

Use Search sports events to search teams, event names, or competitions. Search only uses events available through your competition selection and the current time window.

When there are no results, the app states that no events match the active filter or search. Reset the filter or search to show all configured events again.

6. Choose Score Display

Open Settings > Sports Hub > Show Score.

Available options are:

  • Always
  • Live only
  • Completed only
  • Never

This setting controls display on this TV only. It does not change events or competition selection.

7. Interpret Event States

Sports Hub can show states including:

  • Scheduled: the event has not started
  • LIVE: the event is running
  • FINAL: the event has ended
  • Postponed or Canceled: the reported schedule changed
  • Live data delayed: event state is available, but the last live update is no longer current enough

Offline data or Sports data may be outdated means the app is showing cached data. Use the displayed last-update time as the reference in this state.

8. Understand Channel Assignment

IPTV Buddy searches the current profile’s active Live TV categories and Favorites for a matching channel for each event. Assignment depends on the available channel and event data.

Possible indicators include:

  • Searching for channel
  • Channel available
  • Multiple channels available
  • No mapped channel

No mapped channel means IPTV Buddy did not find a sufficiently matching channel in the available Live TV data. It does not mean that the event itself is missing.

9. Choose a Channel, Play, or Record

Select a live event with a mapped channel to open Live TV playback.

If several channels are possible, IPTV Buddy opens Choose a channel. Select the available source you want to use. The choice is considered for the local assignment of this event.

For a future event with a matched channel, the app offers Play now and Schedule recording. Schedule recording opens the normal recording setup with start time, end time, preroll, and postroll. Saving the recording still depends on requirements such as storage, Exact Alarm permission, and available provider connections.

10. Reinitialize Channel Assignments

Use Settings > Sports Hub > Reinitialize channel assignments only when assignments still look wrong or outdated after Live TV categories, Favorites, or channel data changed.

After confirmation, IPTV Buddy discards saved automatic and manual assignments for current events and rebuilds them from current Live TV data. Saved Live TV source preferences remain unchanged.

Troubleshooting

Sports Hub Is Missing From the Main Navigation

Open Settings > Sports Hub and enable Enable Sports Hub.

Sports Hub Is Empty

Open Configure competitions and check the selection for the active profile. If competitions are selected but no events are visible, clear an active filter or search. The selected time window may also have no live or upcoming events.

No Channel Is Found for an Event

Check Live TV > All categories and Live TV > Favorites. The required channel must be present in the profile’s active Live TV data. Refresh provider data in the mobile app and resync the TV profile if channels are missing.

Sports Data Is Offline or Outdated

Check the network connection and TV VPN Kill Switch if it is enabled. The app can show available cached data with its last-update time until current data can be loaded.

Scores Are Not Visible

Check Settings > Sports Hub > Show Score. Live only and Completed only hide scores outside the selected state; Never hides every score.

FAQ

Does My Competition Selection Apply to Other TVs?

Yes. You configure competitions on a TV, but the selection is saved to the active profile and is used by every TV on the same account that uses that profile. Whether Sports Hub is enabled and how scores are displayed are stored locally on each TV.

Does Sports Hub Supply Its Own Channels?

No. IPTV Buddy finds matching channels in the active Live TV categories and Favorites for your profile.

How Far Ahead Are Events Shown?

Sports Hub shows live and upcoming events in the current seven-day window when data is available. Recently completed events can remain visible for up to 24 hours after they are marked as finished.

Can I Record From Sports Hub?

For a future event with a matched channel, Schedule recording can open the normal recording setup. The usual recording requirements still apply.
